Policies and Resources
Alcohol is prohibited in all Wharton campus classrooms and conference rooms and can only be served in event/reception spaces. If you are planning a reception or special event on the Jon M. Huntsman Hall Colloquium Level or any other Wharton event/reception space you must indicate your intent to serve alcohol on your space request form. Prior to your event an Alcohol Usage Agreement must be reviewed and signed with Wharton Operations staff. Please familiarize yourself with the University of Pennsylvania policies regarding serving alcohol on campus. Note that additional charges for security will be incurred by all events serving alcohol. The amount of security required is at the discretion of Wharton Operations.
This service is for Wharton recognized student clubs. Approval to hang your banner must be received from either the Undergraduate Division (JMHH, Suite G95) or the MBA Program Office (JMHH, Suite 300) prior to contacting the Wharton Operations Customer Support Center. Priority is given to University-wide and School-wide event banners.
Riding and parking bicycles inside Wharton campus buildings is prohibited. Bike racks located outside of Wharton School buildings are provided for bike parking. View the bicycle safety information on the Division of Public Safety website and register your bike here.
All catering within the Wharton campus requires the use of a Wharton approved caterer. You must indicate on your request form that you intend to serve food for your special event or meeting. The use of sterno gel fuel is prohibited inside Wharton campus classrooms and conference rooms, only electric warming equipment can be used in these spaces.
Easels are only available for use on the Colloquium Level of Jon M. Huntsman Hall. They are stored in the coat room and are self-serve, you must provide your own paper and markers. Groups who would like to use easels in classrooms or other Wharton spaces will need to rent them from an approved vendor.
Keying, re-keying, and lock service is available via the Customer Support Center. It is a departmental responsibility to manage keys issued. Any Wharton-issued key that is lost or missing must be reported immediately to Wharton Security (215-898-2300). Keys cannot be issued to temporary staff, Undergraduate Students and/or MBA students.

Lost & Found
The Wharton Security Desk located in the Locust Walk Lobby of Jon M. Huntsman hall manages the School’s lost and found. Any found articles should be turned into the security desk. Contact the Security Desk (215-898-2300) for questions.
Rollerblading, Rollerskating, or Skateboarding
Rollerblading, rollerskating, and skateboarding are not permitted inside Wharton buildings.
Scheduling Non-Wharton University Space
University space can be reserved via Perelman Quadrangle.
School Closing Information
If not already a member – register for UPennAlert Notifications to receive University announcements via text message, voicemail and email. You can call the University of Pennsylvania MELT LINE by dialing 215-898- MELT (6358). Information on University closures is also posted on the University of Pennsylvania website.
It is prohibited to tape, glue or affix any signs, posters or advertisements to any surface in the Wharton campus. All classrooms in JMHH have signage holders located underneath the room sign for each door, these are self service. Directional signage can be placed within buildings with the approval of Wharton Operations staff, these signs must be single base – tripod base signs or easels cannot be used in any corridors. Wharton Operations has some directional sign holders that can be reserved for use with your special event.
Note that all Forum level classrooms in Jon M. Huntsman Hall have a metal sign holder under the room number for the classroom. You may use the metal bar to post a sign for your event.
Smoking is not allowed within 20-feet of the entrance to any building. No smoking is allowed within the facilities, per the City of Philadelphia, ordinance #050063-A.
Suspension of Normal Operations
If the University suspends normal operations all Wharton buildings will be closed including Colonial Penn Center, Lauder-Fischer Hall, Jon M. Huntsman Hall, Steinberg Hall – Dietrich Hall and Vance Hall. Essential personnel will be required to report to campus but all classes, events and all other activities scheduled in Wharton campus buildings will be cancelled. Please contact Wharton Operations the next operational business day to inquire about rescheduling your event or scheduling a make-up class. Faculty, staff and PhD’s will have access to their office via card readers at the main entrances.
